Trading card concept
In developing the visual identity for the book, I spent a lot of time researching where Solarpunk came from and what makes it what it is, including the art movement that inspired it--Art Nouveau. The flourishing line work, outlining, fonts, and colors in this trading card I designed all fit the vibe perfectly. It took many versions to get to this one, but when I hit it, I was very pleased with it. (See the moodboards on this page for more info on Solarpunk)

Map of Thaladiqa City
On a sun-drenched island in the Mediterranean in the year 2150, a vibrant city full of art and technology stretches across rolling hills. Floating gardens surround sandy beaches and a grown forest featuring cypress and laurel trees carpets the back of the island.

What is Solarpunk?
Where Steampunk is victorian in its fashion and architecture, Solarpunk is Art Nouveau with a touch of Afro-Futurism. Solarpunk is about society in harmony with nature. It's utopian. Think clean energy, robotics in the home, people who make time for art and recreation.

Project Solarpunk - Moodboard
Solarpunk beach town. Robots working in the gardens. Jungle animals using the crosswalks. Glints hovering like holographic bees. Hungry eyes peeking out of dark alleys...

Glints
Glints float around in the air in Thaladiqa City, rendered by the Spectrum Field, a mysterious piece of technology that's older than the city itself.

Team logos
Logos of some of the teams in this year's Seagarden Cup. The Thorns (Deen's team), The Sunbolts, The Kelphawks, The Tusks, and the Tidecutters

Evany Nave palindrome logo
In the city of Thaladiqa, there's a reclusive face designer named Evany Nave. Evany sometimes wears the face of a woman, sometimes the face of a man. If you look closely at their butterfly-shaped logo you'll see the letters of their palindrome name. EVANYNAVE

After the Fight - Sketch
Photoshop sketch of a scene in Chapter 2. Quick sketches like this help myself envision the world while I write the manuscript. Lighting is all wrong, I know. It's just a quick sketch.

Loungers and Panther Jacket
The most common organic jackets in Thaladiqa are cats, apes, and birds. Any of these CAN be used in Spectrum sports, but they've fallen out of fashion, due to the dominance of new bot designs. Loungers are the chairs that players lay in while their minds are in-jacket. These can be customized and come in many designs.
